Guidance is ever-changing, but we're excited that these new options will keep more kids in school! Below is a brief summary of the changes set forth by the SCHD for schools/school activities with regard to quarantining because of close contact:
Students/staff exposed to someone who tested positive for Covid-19 (at school or in the community) that would normally be quarantined now have options:
1) Quarantine at home for 10 days from exposure - no test.
2) Quarantine at home for 7 days from date of exposure, test on day 6 or 7, return on day 8 if still asymptomatic.
3) Test daily at school - if negative and asymptomatic, wear a mask, stay at school/activities, and quarantine at home outside of school related events. (This option is not available if there is someone in the household who is currently in isolation for a positive test)
**If vaccinated or have natural immunity - monitor for symptoms with the option to test on day 3-5 after exposure, if so desired.
As always, there are different scenarios that may call for a different approach - feel free to call or email if you have any questions at all!
