Dear Silver Lake Families,

It is with great excitement that I write to you as I prepare to begin serving as your Superintendent of Schools on July 1st. I am extremely honored for the opportunity to join the Silver Lake community and to partner with you in supporting our students.

One belief has guided my work as an educator and leader: every student deserves to be known, valued, and challenged to reach their full potential. Our schools are not just buildings where learning happens — they are communities where students develop confidence, character, relationships, and the skills they need for their future.

As we begin the new school year, my first priority will be listening and learning. I want to understand what makes Silver Lake special, celebrate the strengths already present, and work alongside students, staff, families, and community members to continue moving our district forward.

I believe the best schools are built through strong partnerships. Our teachers and staff dedicate themselves every day to creating meaningful learning experiences, and families play an essential role in encouraging and supporting students. Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to not only succeed, but stretch their boundaries beyond what they believed they were capable of.

I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming months, hearing your ideas, and learning more about your experiences with Silver Lake Schools. My door will always be open, and I hope you will see me as a partner in this important work.

Respectfully,

Mark Farrar

Superintendent
