New Superintendent

The USD 372 Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Mark Farrar as the next Superintendent of Silver Lake Schools, following a comprehensive search process. 

 

Mr. Farrar brings extensive experience as a building-level educational leader and holds district-level licensure. He currently serves as principal of Turner High School in Kansas City, Kansas, a position he has held since 2022. Prior to that role, he served as principal at Tonganoxie High School from 2014 to 2022, principal at Waverly Public Schools from 2013 to 2014, and assistant principal at Wichita South High School from 2011 to 2013. 

 

Throughout his career, Mr. Farrar has focused on improving student engagement, strengthening instructional practices, and fostering a culture of achievement. His leadership experience includes guiding schoolwide improvement efforts, strengthening school culture through relationship-building, and collaborating with staff, students, families, and community stakeholders to support student success. 

 

Mr. Farrar holds district-level licensure from Newman University, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Baker University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University. 

 

The appointment follows a thoughtful and thorough search process conducted by the USD 372 Board of Education. 

 

 “We are excited to welcome Mark Farrar as the next superintendent of USD 372,” said the Board of Education. “Since the end of last year, the Board has engaged in a comprehensive process that included reviewing stakeholder feedback, holding in-depth discussions, and identifying the leadership qualities most important for our district. Throughout the interview process, those priorities remained at the forefront of our decision-making. Ultimately, we believe Mark is the right leader to continue moving USD 372 forward as we work to fulfill our mission of preparing each student for a complex global society by supporting the development of the whole student.” 

 

Mr. Farrar expressed appreciation for the opportunity to lead the district. 

“I couldn’t be more excited to join such an outstanding school community,” Farrar said. “Silver Lake has established itself as one of the best districts in the state, both in and out of the classroom. I look forward to partnering with students, staff, parents, and community members as we build on that strong foundation and continue shaping a bright future for Silver Lake Schools. I am truly honored to become part of the Silver Lake community.”
