🐾📚 One School, One Book: A PAW-some Start! 📚🐾
Our Silver Lake Elementary Eagles kicked off One School, One Book this morning with a special all-school assembly! Students got a sneak peek at our featured book, Dogtown, and learned about the incredible work of Helping Hands Humane Society! 🐶❤️
And we can't forget Guinness! 🐾 Our special four-legged visitor stole the show, bringing plenty of smiles and making our kickoff even more memorable!
But this year, we're doing more than just reading together. We're turning the lessons of kindness, compassion, and community into action!
🐾 SMALL CHANGE, BIG DIFFERENCE!
Our Elementary Student Council is hosting a CHANGE WAR, November 16–20, benefiting Helping Hands Humane Society! All money raised will help purchase Kuranda shelter beds, giving animals a comfortable place to rest while they wait for their forever homes.
💰 Our Goal: $1,000
⭐ Stretch Goal: $1,500
And there's a little friendly competition involved! Grade levels will compete for the chance to duct tape a staff representative to the wall, with even more surprises if we reach our schoolwide goals!
Helping Hands also has a wish list of much-needed supplies, including pet food, litter, toys, and cleaning supplies. Every little bit makes a difference! 🐕🐈

Innovation, creativity, and teamwork were put to the test as Silver Lake High School students participated in the University of Kansas High School Design Competition!
Students had the opportunity to apply their problem-solving skills, think like engineers, and tackle real-world design challenges through hands-on learning.
