Parent Information

I am extremely excited to be back for my eleventh year of teaching! I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Washburn University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from Pittsburg State University.  I am currently working on an Early Childhood Special Education endorsement through K-State. I was born and raised in Rossville where I currently live with my husband and our four children; Reece (seven), Gannon (five), Clare (two), and Molly (one).

Pre-School is a very important year, and I understand how big the transition will be for your child.  I can’t wait to get to know all of my students and look forward to the upcoming school year!

Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions or concerns.  My e-mail address is jthomas@silverlakeschools.org or you may call the school and leave a message.  It is very important to keep an open line of communication between teachers and parents.  I am happy to have your child in my room, and I know we are going to have a wonderful school year!

Thank you,

Joan Thomas

Special Events

Birthdays

Birthdays are very important to students, and I will try and make it a special day for each of them!  The birthday child may bring treats to share.  Please let me know ahead of time, so I can inform you of any allergies that a student may have in our classroom.  I ask that you please don’t send birthday invitations to school, unless there is an invitation for everyone in the class.

Star Student

Each student will be recognized throughout the year.  It is called “star student.”  The “star student,” will bring five to seven pictures to be displayed in the classroom.  I will send home the dates for your child when it is time for your child to be star student.
