Meet the Athletic Trainer

Austin Dodd PortraitHello USD 372 Parents & Student-Athletes,

My name is Austin Dodds and I am the athletic trainer for Silver Lake High School. I am employed through Stormont Vail Health – Cotton O’Neil Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, and I provide daily coverage for the district’s junior-senior high school student-athlete population. I received my B.S. in Athletic Training from Washburn University (2017), as well as my M.S. in Sports and Health Sciences from American Public University (2018). I have been a part of the Silver Lake family since the Fall of 2018. My wife, Heather, and I currently live in Rossville (do not hold it against me) with our daughters Sophie and Ivy.

I am nationally certified by the Board of Certification and adhere to stringent licensing standards as set forth by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts. I work under the supervision of Stormont Vail Health – Cotton O’Neil physicians and aim to safeguard the health interests of your student-athletes. My approach is multi-faceted, in the sense that I promote injury prevention strategies, provide immediate/emergency care, employ pertinent evaluation/rehabilitation programs, and aim to return the student-athletes back to their respective sports, in a time-sensitive and safety-oriented manner.
