Students, Parents and Patrons:

Due to the current attendance restrictions and operating limits districts and communities are under, schools are being granted waivers from some of the regulations that limit our food service programs. Beginning Wednesday, April 1st U.S.D. 372 will begin providing Free Grab & Go lunches Monday through Friday to any child in the district ages 1 - 18. This program will continue through the last day of school Wednesday, May 20th. These sack lunches will be available drive thru style each day at the Jr-Sr High School building from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We will be sharing additional information with you early next week including a menu & how to sign up each day. Below are a couple of Questions and Answers that you may find helpful:

  • Do you have to be a student at USD 372?  No, this is available to any child aged 1-18, they do not need to attend USD 372. They could be staying here with relatives, friends or be at a preschool, daycare or babysitter, they only have to be physically in the district to pick up the lunch and btw ages 1-18.
  • Will my lunch account be charged for this meal? No, this is service is being provided free of charge and the district will be reimbursed for the meal expense by the federal school lunch program..
  • We live in the country and cannot drive to the school to pick lunch up, can we still participate? Yes, if you have circumstances that prevent you or your children from coming to the school to pick up lunch(s), we can make arrangements for delivery in many circumstances.
  • Do we need to sign up for lunch each day we want to eat? Yes, it is our way of taking a lunch count so we have enough lunches prepared as well as not waste food. We will outline a procedure for you to sign up each day.
  • Is this program available for adults? Unfortunately No, this program and our waiver only applies to children 1 - 18.

We will be sending out additional information early next week on this program. The Silver Lake United Methodist Church has been providing meals the past two weeks to the community. They asked that we let you know they will continue this service from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM and throughout the summer and their lunches are available to adults as well. Thank you to everyone in the community for their generosity, patience and flexibility as we work through this challenge. Talk to you soon.
